Volunteers For a Better Generation

We have a new, short-term EVS opportunity available in Gaziantep, Turkey, starting in June. This EVS project is for those volunteers that want to experience and learn how to assist children and teenagers of refugees in their education, social life and learning healthy life habits. The volunteers will join the organization’s daily activities to help children of Syrian and Afghan families suffering from social and economic difficulties. They educate and entertain the kids and teach them basic knowledge, art, mathematics, language, and social/personal skills. They also organize campaigns to reduce xenophobia.

The organization is looking for volunteers between 18 and 30 years old, interest in participating in campaigns and learning activities for children and teenagers with fewer opportunities. The project is in a big Turkish city, Gaziantep, and the organization is located right in the city center, where they host 10-14 volunteers at the same time. All these volunteers are from different countries and cultures, so while you probably have to share a room, you’ll get a unique chance to both meet people from different backgrounds as the opportunity to help children in need.

The deadline for this project is 31/05/15, so be quick.

If you’re interested and you feel that working with and educating children is something you’d enjoy, you can apply directly by sending an email to with the subject “Volunteers for a better generation”. Don’t forget to also attach a CV and a motivational letter, explaining your interest in the project and why you’re the best candidate for the job. If you’d rather have more information before applying directly, feel free to contact us here.

Short-term GroupEVS in the Netherlands

Ommen's old city hall

Our partners at the Olde Vechte Foundation in Ommen, the Netherlands, are organizing a GroupEVS-project for the 8th time. During this project, which lasts from the 29th of June until the 26th of August 2015 they will host up to 30 volunteers from twelve to fifteen different countries.

During the project, the thirty volunteers will be hosted at the Olde Vechte Foundation where they will support local organizations in an active and practical manner, doing volunteer work on daily activities. A few of the local organizations in Ommen participating in the EVS project include a cheese farm, a horse farm and a pet shelter, a second hand shop and a youth camping. This short list of participating organizations, while far from complete, should go to show that there’s something to do for everyone, no matter what your interests are!

Not only will you be supporting Dutch organizations, you will gain a valuable experience living abroad, not just learning about the Dutch way of life, but gaining an insight in cultures from all over Europe.

Of course you won’t spend all your time working the farm or camping, you’ll have plenty of free time too. During this free time, you’re free to visit other cities, hang out with your friends, join the karaoke(!) evenings or anything else your heart desires.

Getting a place at Olde Vechte

For more information about the project, a more extensive list of local organizations participating in this project, food, pocket money and other important questions you can follow this link, or you can click this link for a video about the program. The application form can be found here and if you have any more questions, you can contact us here.

Since this project is a short-term EVS experience, meaning it lasts less than two months, you’ll be able to participate in a second EVS-project in the future to make full use of the 12 months you’re allowed to have.

Let us know if you’re interested, we can promise you that the Netherlands is an experience you’ll never forget!

EVS Accreditation Status: Accomplished

Starting today, Synergy Source Serbia is an official EVS sending organization aiming to support young people from Serbia to live and volunteer abroad.

We are delighted to announce the recent notification that our NGO “Synergy Source Serbia” has been accredited as a Sending Organisation for the European Voluntary Service, a part of the Erasmus+ Programme.

After a few months of arranging papers, exchanging numerous e-mails and having meetings with our accreditors, we have reached the point where we can make an EVS project  happen for anyone who went through our informational meetings, as well as many others who have yet to discover the possibilities that the European Voluntary Service offers.

If you don’t know what is EVS, please check out “what is EVSsection of our website before you continue reading the article, so you know what’s up.

Getting accredited is an important milestone in the continuing growth and success of our organization, and it allows us to contribute to youth mobility and personal development as we determined in our aims, goals and mission.

What is going to happen next ?

Synergy Serbia is planning and organizing a series of events and activities that will lead to:

  • the ongoing promotion of EVS, so that more young people get informed and benefit from this program
  • continuous support and guidance through the whole volunteering process (application, placement, evaluation)  for the ones who are interested in doing EVS
  • a series of workshops focused on personal development and self-coaching, as well as increased cooperation with other local NGO’s (so give us a call, other NGO’s)

We are proud to have met the challenge of accreditation, and intend to introduce EVS to as many young people as possible, so feel free to contact us and find out more.
